London Events

The Cricket Society’s London Events are centred on two locations.

1.  The Civil Service Club is situated in Great Scotland Yard between Whitehall and Northumberland Avenue in SW1A and provides a Restaurant and Bar where thirsty Members can have a pre/post event chat and slake their thirst.

The Civil Service Club is TCS’s ancestral home and is where 29 enthusiasts got together in 1945 to create The Society of Cricket Statisticians, the harbinger of TCS.

2.  The Union Jack Club, founded in 1904, is located in Sandell Street, Waterloo, London SE1.  It is a famous Military Club exclusively for Serving and Veteran Enlisted Members of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.

The idea for the Club came from a visionary nurse, Ethel McCaul, because while Officers had their Clubs, Servicemen below Commissioned Rank had nowhere reputable to stay in London when alone or with their families.

TCS Members attending a Union Club Event become ‘press ganged’ for the day and can gain access to the subsidised Bar and Restaurant that serves delicious British Nosh.
