John is the President of The Cricket Society, having succeeded Christopher Martin-Jenkins in 2006.
John Barclay is the former Director of Arundel Castle Cricket Foundation and has led the charity for over thirty years. During this time more than 300,000 young people benefited from the work of the Foundation. We are delighted that John continues to support us in the role of Vice President. John was a member of the MCC Committee for several years and President of MCC in 2009-10. For five years, he chaired the ECB Cricket Coaches Association and is Director of Sussex Cricket and President of the English Schools Cricket Association. John was honoured by The Cricket Society and made his first-class debut for Sussex, while still at school in 1970. He became County Captain of Sussex County Cricket Club and led the team to second place in the County Championship. John has been a successful tour manager with the England Under-19’s, the England A’s as well as the England team for two tours.
